Sure, Jessica Simpson may have once confused tuna with chicken, but girlfriend’s got it together when it comes to her mom game, okay? Can we all agree on that? No, of course we can’t. On Friday, Aug. 9, Simpson posted an adorable pic of her third child, second daughter — Birdie, 4 months — on Instagram. She wound up having to disable all the comments the very next day, because the mom-shamer army attacked from all sides, and who wants to deal with that?
What was the beef this time? Look at that cute baby. Do you see a problem? Neither did we. Turns out in their eagerness to mom-shame Simpson, the parent police missed the fact that Birdie wasn’t buckled poorly into a car seat; she was actually buckled perfectly fine into a stroller.
Oh, you know there was more. Plenty more.
Lord have mercy. One Instagram follower called out these smarties, saying, “Well maybe you should look again and see it’s a stroller instead of mom shaming,” but the damage had been done. Simpson was already fed up, and not just from Strollergate. Earlier in the month, Simpson received all sorts of flak for letting daughter Maxi, 7, dye the tips of her hair, inspired by the movie The Descendants.
For that parenting sin, she received comments like, “Wasn’t she lovely with her natural blonde hair? Why does everyone want to change the color God gave them.” And “Please don’t start posting glam [pics] of your kids. We have the Kardashian no class clan doing that.” Okurrrrr.
But we love who came to her aid over the hair: Pink FTW, Pink who’s been on the receiving end of plenty of mom shaming. Pink went right ahead and colored her daughter Willow’s hair blue, the badass. Her Instagram post on Aug. 1 was captioned, “I heard people were bummed on Jessica Simpson for letting her seven year old get her hair colored. So we thought we’d share what we did yesterday. #bluehairdon’tcare #getyourownkids #parentpoliceareactuallyjustlonelysadpeople” “Illdyeyourhairtoolosers.”
Guess who else came to Simpson’s defense? The legendary Bette Midler, who tweeted this in her defense. Bam!
The moral of the story? Don’t mess with Jess Simpson and her kids unless you want powerhouses like Pink and Bette Midler coming for you. And stop spoiling Jess’s hilarious posts and the comment thread fun for the rest of us, m’kay? Good talk.
